Late Cherries goal denies nine-man Spurs a draw

Tottenham missed the opportunity to secure a Champions League spot for next season when a late goal gave Bournemouth a 1-0 win in a chaotic contest which saw Spurs lose their heads as well as the match.

Tottenham's Heung-Min Son and substitute Juan Foyth were sent off either side of half-time but Mauricio Pochettino's nine men looked like they were going to hold on for a point before Nathan Ake scored in added time.

Premier League standings

Paddy Power reacted by pushing Tottenham out to 1-6 for a top-four finish, which looks on the skinny side seeing as there is the very real possibility of them needing to beat Everton at home on the final day to make sure of Champions League qualification.

They will have to face the in-form Toffees without the suspended Son, although help may come from elsewhere if Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are unable to make up sufficient ground on third-placed Spurs.

Chelsea are 2-7 in the top-four market with Arsenal at 15-8 and United can be backed at 13-2.

Tottenham had earlier been well supported in the market to beat Bournemouth, being cut from 10-11 to 8-13 as the Cherries named goalkeeper Mark Travers in their starting 11. But the teenage stopper kept the visitors at bay until the dynamic of the match changed with Son's red card for a push on Jefferson Lerma.

The good news for Spurs is that Everton will have nothing meaningful to play for after Wolves beat Fulham 1-0 thanks to a Leander Dendoncker goal.

Wanderers can only be denied seventh if Leicester win away at Manchester City and then beat Chelsea at home. Seventh will be a Europa League spot if City beat Watford in the FA Cup final.

West Ham beat Southampton 3-0 at the London Stadium with Marko Arnautovic scoring twice.
