Liverpool defy 5-2 quotes to knock out Toffees
A second-string Liverpool team defied 5-2 quotes to knock Merseyside rivals Everton out of the FA Cup third round.
The Reds, who handed starts to Nathan Phillips, Neco Williams, Pedro Chirivella, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott along with debutant Takumi Minamino, were 2-5 before the game but drifted after the team selections were revealed.
Jones scored the only goal in the 1-0 win while elsewhere Tottenham were held by Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough 1-1 and Crystal Palace were knocked out 1-0 by Derby.
