Newport and Oldham produce huge Cup shocks

The romance of the FA Cup is alive and well following a dramatic day of third-round action as Premier League outfits Leicester and Fulham were sent crashing out of the competition by Sky Bet League Two opponents Newport and Oldham.

Non-league Barnet also shocked Championship club Sheffield United with the trio of giantkillings all landed at double-figure odds.

Leicester were the highest-ranked club to bite the dust as the seventh-placed Premier League team lost 2-1 at Newport, who had been 10-1.

Rachid Ghezzal's leveller with eight minutes remaining looked as if it would save the Foxes only for Padraig Amond to convert a penalty just minutes later to send the home fans delirious.

Oldham were matched at the maximum 1,000 on Betfair when they trailed 1-0 at Craven Cottage with 15 minutes remaining but Sam Sturridge's penalty forced an equaliser for the Latics, who claimed a dramatic winner through Callum Lang after Aleksandar Mitrovic had missed from the spot.

Fulham's elimination was also rated a 10-1 chance with National League outfit Barnet 12-1 to win at Bramall Lane.

Shaquile Coulthirst was the Bees' hero from the penalty spot, although National League South side Woking were unable to match those efforts in a 2-0 defeat to Watford.

FA Cup favourites Manchester City fielded a strong side and Pep Guardiola was rewarded with a 7-0 thrashing of Rotherham.

Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Nicolas Otamendi and Leroy Sane were on target for City, who also profited from an own goal, and they will be the team to avoid in the fourth-round draw which follows Wolves v Liverpool on Monday.
