Spurs 13-8 to upset odds once more in Madrid

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino called his side reaching the Champions League final "a miracle" and the semi-final win over Ajax was the latest remarkable twist in a memorable run to Madrid.

Spurs are 13-8 to upset the odds once more when they face Liverpool on June 1 with the chance to lift the European Cup for the first time, having been 100-1 in the middle of the group phase.

Pochettino's men were almost eliminated after collecting one point from their opening three fixtures and they were still 70-1 before a 1-1 draw at a weakened Barcelona on matchday six enabled the London outfit to squeeze through following Inter's failure to beat PSV in Milan.

They have since seen off Borussia Dortmund and then Manchester City and Ajax on away goals, needing a VAR decision to overturn Raheem Sterling's potential injury-time winner at the Etihad before Lucas Moura completed his dramatic second-half hat-trick in Amsterdam with just seconds remaining.

A Moura hat-trick had been 100-1 with Coral, while bet365 laid Spurs at 22-1 in-play to qualify - odds which bettered Liverpool's 18-1 comeback from 3-0 down to beat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate.

Bet365 and Betway both reported hefty losses on Wednesday with punters possibly inspired to get with Tottenham, who were 3-0 down on aggregate at half-time, following events from Anfield 24 hours earlier.

Tottenham have lost both of their meetings against Liverpool 2-1 this season and the Merseysiders are 24 points ahead of them in the Premier League, although when the Champions League started in September such a gulf was not expected.

Liverpool were 14-1 and Spurs 25-1 when they were eighth and ninth in the outright market at the outset.

Jurgen Klopp's side are now 8-15 to win the Champions League and Evens to do so in 90 minutes.
