Spurs boss Pochettino backed for Real hotseat

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is a best-priced 7-2 to be the next Real Madrid manager after bookmakers reported significant support for the Argentinian to replace Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked on Monday night.

Available at double-figure odds last week, Pochettino is as short as 5-4 to take the reins at the Bernabeu and a best-priced 7-2.

Caretaker Santiago Solari remains favourite to take the role on a permanent basis but has eased in the market to 9-4 with Betway, having been as short as 4-7 yesterday morning.

Belgian national team boss Roberto Martinez is another to have come in for support at 5-1 but early favourite Antonio Conte is easy to back.

The former Chelsea manager was 1-20 at one stage on Monday but is now as big as 5-1.

Expert verdict
The Gunners’ hopes of a top-four finish suffered a body blow against Palace on Sunday and they have won just two of their last ten Premier League away games. This looks the toughest of their three remaining trips, as Wolves are a solid proposition at Molineux.
