Ireland 9-2 to win Euro 2020 qualifying group

Ireland are as short as 9-2 to win Group D after beating Georgia 1-0 on an eventful final night of the first round of Euro 2020 qualifyinig matches.

Aston Villa's Conor Hourihane struck the decisive goal in the 35th minute to make it two wins out of two for Mick McCarthy's men, who had edged past Gibraltar in their opening qualifier.

Denmark were 3-0 down in the 83rd minute against Switzerland in the same qualifying section but a whirlwind finish saw the Danes draw 3-3 courtesy of Henrik Dalsgaard's added-time goal.

There was also a chaotic end to Norway's clash with Sweden, who trailed 2-0 after an hour in Oslo but managed to draw 3-3.

Spain, who are 13-2 for the Euro 2020 crown, won 2-0 in Malta and Fabio Quagliarella, back in the Italy squad for the first time in ten years, netted a brace in their 6-0 hammering of Liechtenstein.

World Cup holders France remain 7-2 favourites for next year's tournament while England are second in the market at 9-2 after comprehensive wins over Czech Republic and Montenegro.

Raheem Sterling is level with Israel's Eran Zahavi as top scorer in qualifying with four goals.

The Manchester City star can be backed at 11-4 with bet365 to win Premier League Player of the Year and is the 2-5 favourite for the Young Player of the Year accolade.
